Dream Big

My Mom

with one comment

Classifying my mom, Wendy as just a mother would be a cheap and incomplete description.   This woman is a warrior.  Stronger than any other person that I have met, heard of, or even read about.  Real or fictional it doesn’t matter (that includes you superman).

She wears her armor 7 days a week dressed head to toe in colorful scrubs.  Her shield measures the beating hearts of thousands of patients of all ages, and hangs around her neck sometimes from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. at night.  My mom goes to battle everyday, to keep multiple communties healthy, and to keep the dreams of my brother and me alive.  She wears her war paint daily for us.

This warrior is also my best friend.  She has never given up on me, even when I’ve given her so many reasons to do so.  She has never given up.  Not when she was 19 and pregnant and the world was against me and her.  Not when her first love and my father was taken away from us by tragedy.  Not when she was pregnant for the second time and left by her second love, but this time by choice.

Instead of giving up she got her nursing degree while working full-time.  She somehow managed to be the best mom and friend that two boys could ever ask for.

I love you so much Mom, you are not only a warrior, a mother, and my best friend.  But you are my hero, and always will be for life.  No matter what.
